Barry Scott's been busy: not content with Cillit Bang-ing the homes of the nation into gleaming submission, he's also launched a new Facebook competition to crown Ireland’s Ultimate Clean Freak (more on that in a mo) and he's conducted a survey to see just how grubby - or immaculate - us Irish types are when it comes to our cleaning habits.
And the results are interesting! It turns out that 30% of people say they are clean freaks and the same percentage aren't content with normal cleaning tools either, preferring to use a toothbrush to scrub hard-to-reach areas. Hopefully they're not using said brush to get at their hard-to-reach back teeth later, eh?
12% of women have special cleaning clothes, and 13% won't answer the door if the house is messy. While almost three quarters of Irish people say that having a clean home is important to them, only 25% of them are happy to have someone else take charge of the job. They must be the 14% who reckoned that cleaning is a stress-reliever, eh?
You might be interested to know that specific tasks can be determined by hair colour. Barry and his crack survey team found that blondes like to clean the bathroom more whereas brunettes seem to favour giving the bedroom a bit of spit and polish. Finally, 45% of people just can't settle down for the night if they know they have washing up still to do. House and Home definitely doesn't suffer from this particular travail.
So, do you identify with any of the above? If so, you might be interested in Cillit Bang's Clean Freak competition. It's running until March 23rd and you can help shape the results. Head to the Facebook page and vote for Ireland's Cleanest, Freakiest, well, clean freak!
