For Irish-made furniture that is beautiful, comfortable and designed to last, make Finline your first port of call when buying a new sofa

A House and Home promotion.

It speaks to the sheer quality of Finline furniture that customers bring their 40-year-old armchairs and sofas back to the company to be re-covered. After all that time, they simply can’t find anything else as comfortable, so prefer to give new life to their existing Finline pieces than buy elsewhere.

In fact, it was a similar search for durable and well-designed furniture that inspired Kieran and Bridget Finane to found Finline in 1979. When furnishing their own home, they couldn’t source quality Irish-made sofas and armchairs anywhere on the market. So, the couple established Finline, a company inspired by its Irish heritage and a commitment to creating furniture that is beautiful, comfortable and designed to last a lifetime.

Hand crafted with skill

This family-run furniture maker is based in Emo, Co. Laois, where, within its workshop, every Finline piece is handcrafted to the highest standards. What began as a company of two, now numbers nearly 80 people, including Kieran and Bridget's sons Ciaran and Kilian (above). From dedicated frame makers and fabric cutters, to seamstresses, upholsterers and cushion fillers, the skilled Finline team has over 500 years’ of combined experience in the furniture industry.

You can choose the format, size, fabric and trim, so it perfectly suits your needs and home’s décor. You also have the reassurance that the finished piece offers the very best in Irish design, crafted to last.

Future plans

Never one to stand still, Finline has announced the opening of a flagship showroom on Long Mile Road in Dublin this summer. It is also proud to launch Revive in August, a take-back programme designed to reduce the number of sofas going into landfill. Finline will take back old sofas and give them a second-life makeover, working with skilled members of the social enterprise group Aiséirí on the restorations. These beautiful, pre-loved sofas will be on sale from Finline showrooms, as good as new but costing a fraction of the price.

So why not see for yourself? The doors of the Finline factory are always open, so you can meet the family, see the team at work and experience its sustainable, make-local approach. What’s more, with showrooms in Dublin, Laois, Cork and Galway, you can shop local too. If you’re looking for a new sofa (or armchair, headboard or sofabed), make Finline your first port of call.
