We just caught wind about a new ethical trade label called Soteah. Founded by textile designer Laura Vann after her two year stint working with Fair Trade cooperatives across Cambodia, Soteah (meaning "kindness" in the Khmer language) aims to connect European customers with Cambodian artisans.
The label features over 50 accessories for the home, most of which were designed by Laura. Accessories include mixed silk cushions, silk throws, natural-dyed table linen and bamboo-woven basks. Everything is handmade by local people working under Fair Trade conditions within Cambodia, many of whom are disabled, victims of sex trafficking and prostitution or live in rural areas where poverty is rife.
We think Soteah is a great idea; you get to buy beautiful home accessories and support a good cause at the same time. All Soteah products can be viewed online at www.soteah.com with delivery to Ireland on request.
