What is it:
HeuHotel, Germany; These ‘Heuhotels’ have become very popular in Germany and are now appearing in Austria and Switzerland.

What’s so special:
Heuhotels are both eco-friendly and affordable, travellers can bring their own sleeping bag and for around €10 sleep on a bed of hay in a barn. Think of it as a more luxurious way to camp and get closer to nature, with a roof over your head and less chance of stray insects or animals making unwanted visits into your sleeping bag!

Getting there:
