Magic Mountain: fairytale accommodation in Chile

By House and Home 05-10-2010

What is it?
Magic Mountain (or Montaña Mágica Lodge) in Huilo Huilo, Chile is forest accommodation in a fairytale mountain. The name of the hotel is taken from a book describing the story of a magical mountain with the power to grant wishes. A waterfall flows from the pinnacle of the hotel’s roof.

Why is it so special?
The architecture is phenomenal! Not a right angle in sight, this hotel is a “wonderland” of shapes, forms and textures only Mother Nature herself could conjure up. Activities include a mini golf course built around a natural walkway surrounded by forestry and your only obstacles being hundred year old trees. Hot tubs are carved out of enormous tree trunks and sit on a deck overlooking a spectacular view of the forest. Other activities include white water rafting and fly fishing.
