What is it:
Sleepbox, the seriously functional, micro-stopover space of the future.
What’s so special:
If you’ve ever arrived off a plane, train or bus into an unfamiliar place in the wee hours or tried to catch a few hours’ kip between flights on the standard, lumbago-inducing airport seats, this one’s for you. The brainchild of Architectural bureau Arch group the Sleepbox is designed as a safe and comfortable place to rest your weary head for a few hours.
Not so much a hotel as a tiny, self-contained cubicle, the bed is a soft strip of foamed polymer with a surface of pulp tissue that automatically changes between users.
The details:
Intended for use in airports, train stations and any other places where weary travellers converge, it will be possible to buy from several minutes to several hours sleep. Each Sleepbox will be equipped with a ventilation system, sound alerts, built-in LCD TV, Wi-Fi, electrical sockets and a storage space for luggage.
Getting there:
Keep your sleep-deprived eyes peeled when passing through airports and train stations of the future.
