When interior designer Róisín Lafferty visited this house, it was with a view to altering the bathroom. Little did she know that she would embark on a full renovation that would take two years, from planning to completion.

The family of five had been living here for some time. “I started asking them questions about how their house was working for them,” recalls Róisín, “and I made some suggestions as to how the house might work better. They had young children who weren’t so young anymore, and the space wasn’t working for them the way it used to.”

The house also was darker than they would have liked, with a neglected feel to some rooms while others worked as walkways. It became clear that the couple was open to an overhaul. Architects ODKM were called in, and the downstairs floor was reimagined, around an arc, hence the name for the house – the Arc House.
